
SMITHVILLE, Ark. – The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office is continuing their investigation into an apparent homicide last week in Smithville, a press release sent to media outlets said Tuesday (May 12).
Deputies responded to the scene at 9:50 AM Thursday, May 5, to 50 Lawrence 2741 near Smithville. The initial call was about an unresponsive male. Deputies discovered the body of James Sartorelli.
The coroner’s office responded. Sartorelli was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Unit along with Special Agents with the Arkansas State Police launched a homicide investigation. A release from ASP called it an “apparent homicide.”
The body was sent to the Arkansas Crime Lab for an autopsy. Results are still pending.
Authorities have conducted several interviews and report that persons of interest have been developed. However, the investigation is still proceeding.
