
POCAHONTAS, Ark. – A man was found dead under suspicious circumstances in Randolph County last week and authorities have released more information.
The male, mid-30s, was reportedly found in a car late Monday/early Tuesday last week. One source at the scene said it appeared he had been beaten or bludgeoned. The male was brought to the local hospital in Pocahontas where he was pronounced dead Tuesday morning.
The Randolph County Sheriff’s Department confirmed on Thursday that the suspicious death investigation was underway. Sheriff Kevin Bell told NEA Report the body had been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab to determine the cause of death.
“I will confirm that this investigation is a suspicious death investigation,” Bell said. “We are waiting on results from the Arkansas State Crime Lab as to a cause of death.”
An update from Bell Monday, Feb 10 provided more details:
The suspicious death investigation began February 4 at 1:19 am as deputies were called to Highway 115 near Maynard to an intoxicated person passed out in a vehicle.
The person had been involved in a physical altercation and later died at FRMC in Pocahontas. The body was sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab in Little Rock.
The victim was identified as Brandon Will from Jonesboro, Sheriff Kevin Bell told NEA Report.
A person of interest was announced arrested Monday evening at 4 PM.
Kelly Glenn Dawson has been arrested on unrelated charges of failure to register as a sex offender and is being held in Randolph County Jail. Sheriff Kevin Bell said he is being held as the investigation intot he death of Will continues. Dawson’s bond hearing is planned for Wednesday.
