Report: Armed robbers try to force their way into apartment

JONESBORO, Ark. – A local man reported being the victim of an attempted armed robbery and home invasion early Thursday in Jonesboro. There were no injuries, arrests, and nothing was stolen in the incident, the report says.

At about 3:17 AM on Thursday, JPD was dispatched to the 5300-block of Willow Creek Lane to an apartment where an attempted break-in was reported. A man was sitting on the couch when he said he heard a knock at the door. He opened the door and saw two black males, one in a blue hoodie and another in a white hoodie. Both had bandannas around their face.

The report states one of the men raised a handgun toward the victim and attempted to force his way into the apartment.

“Give me all your money,” he reportedly stated.

However, the 20-year-old male resident said he managed to force them back out of his apartment. He slammed the door and locked it, the report said, before calling police. He said he last saw them running south through the apartment complex.

The 20-year-old victim said he posted a photo of himself holding a large roll of cash to social media earlier in the day. It was the only thing he could think of that might have made him a target of the crime.

Police have no suspects or leads in the case.
