JONESBORO, Ark. – A local man was arrested on Friday after an alleged shoplifting attempt at Seductions Lingerie.
Craighead County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Logan Dotson had the pleasure of taking the report on Friday at the business on Highway 1 South of Jonesboro. The call came that a shoplifter had been caught in the act at about 5 PM.
The incident report states that the subject, later identified as Benny Riley, 42, of Bono, had come into Seductions and purchased some items out of the tobacco/smoke room. However, store employees said he took some items from the toy room afterward and attempted to leave.
As we have reported before, Seductions has a room that locks shoplifters in it, preventing them from leaving. The locks are triggered by theft protection devices setting off the theft alarm. That’s what happened when Riley tried exiting the store, the report says.
Employees told Riley to empty his pockets and bags. When he did, two employees told police they found on him two items he had not paid for: a pack of stickers and a “pocket masturbator.” The report described the item as an “artificial vagina for sexual purposes” valued at $28.
Riley was placed under arrest and transported to Craighead County Detention Center. He is charged with theft, $1,000 or less – a misdemeanor.
He remains in jail as of this publication, 10 AM Tuesday morning.
