
JONESBORO, Ark. – A man responsible for instructing children is accused of being responsible for something far more inappropriate with a student, reports JPD.
Brandon Turner, 25 of Jonesboro, was employed at the Westside School District during the 2017-2018 school year. Jonesboro Police were recently notified that, during that time, Turner became familiar with a 16 year old female who was a student in two of this classes.
It was learned that four days after the end of the 2017-2018 school year, Turner allegedly began a sexual relationship with the 10th grade juvenile student that continued for an extended period of time, police report. It was also learned that on multiple occasions since the origin of the relationship, Turner had allegedly escorted, or arranged for the transportation of, the juvenile outside of the state of Arkansas and engaged in sexual contact with the juvenile while on the trip.
Earlier this week, JPD officers made contact with the victim who confirmed the existence and substance of the relationship.
Turner was taken into JPD custody Thursday morning and charged with Sexual Assault in the 2nd Degree/Sexual Intercourse. During his probable cause hearing, Turner was given an OR bond with a first appearance date of 11/26 by Judge Boling.
Turner has been employed by the Jonesboro School District since the 2018-2019 school year. If convicted, Turner could serve up to 6 years in prison and have his teaching license revoked.
