The Downtown Playhouse will help celebrate Founders Day weekend in Pocahontas by staging “Cheverie” for two days only, May 3 and 4. The two-act play, written & directed by Kelly Grooms, reflects a dark event in history of Pocahontas.
“Cheverie” hearkens back to a vigilante hanging that occurred in the city in the early 20th Century. It is set in the modern day and imagines a courtroom where G.A. Cheverie is able to face his accusers from beyond the grave and seek justice for his death.
Tickets are $19.60, including tax, and the cost of admission also covers beverage and dessert. There is a wide array of hot and cold beverages, and desserts include Key Lime Pie, Hershey’s Chocolate Pie, Sock-It-To-Me Cake and Sugar-Free Parfait.
To order tickets or for more information, go to thedowntownplayhouse.com or call 870-758-2282.
The Downtown Playhouse is located at 302 North Marr in Pocahontas.
