Local clubs facing stiff fines for alcohol violations

JONESBORO, Ark. – A number of local clubs are facing stiff penalties for a variety of violations including serving alcohol to minors, in several instances.

The violations, from the Feb. 13 meeting of the ABC board in Little Rock, includes:

American Legion, Pocahontas: $4,000 fine, 6 months probation
Reason: Failure to be a good neighbor (4 counts), sale to intoxicated person (2), disorderly conduct (2)

Los Arcos Mexican Restaurant, Jonesboro: $600 fine, 60 days probation
Reason: furnished alcohol to minor; Allowed non-member into club and served alcohol

Doe’s Eat Place, Jonesboro: $600 fine, 60 days probation
Reason: furnished alcohol to minor; Allowed non-member into club and served alcohol

Delta Crawfish Market & Cajun Cafe, Jonesboro: $600, 60 days probation
Reason: furnished alcohol to minor; Allowed non-member into club and served alcohol

Bob-O’s Dance- Gaming, INC, Harrisburg: $1,000 fine, 120 days probation
Reason: Furnished alcohol to minor; Sale to intoxicated person

Backstage at the Rock House, Searcy: $500 fine, 60 days probation
Reason: Furnished alcohol to a minor

El Almacen of Searcy: $500 fine, 60 days probation
Reason: Furnished alcohol to a minor

Businesses must pay fines by March 5, 2019, or permits will be suspended.

Only one NEA business was in the ‘fire water’ for January: Mangos Grill, Jonesboro, was fined $1,200 and placed on probation 120 days.
Reasons: Failed to be a Good Neighbor; Failed to maintain health, safety, and sanitary standards by allowing a minor in a permitted smoking establishment
