Victim hospitalized after Monday night shooting in Jonesboro

JONESBORO, Ark. – Another suspect decided to solve his personal problems with a gun Monday night in Jonesboro, resulting in another victim of gun violence.

On Monday, September 10, 2018 Officers with the Jonesboro Police Department were called to an apartment in the 1000 block of Ferrell Street with regards to a person being shot at approximately 11:10 pm.

Once there they were told by the victim he had witnessed a group of unknown subjects attack another person in the parking lot of the apartments. The victim said that he went to render aid to the other person and punched one of the members of the group. At that time one of subjects in the group produced a handgun. The victim ran from the area and attempted to go back inside his apartment. The subject with the handgun fired the weapon several times towards the victim as he ran away. The victim was struck by gun fire and received non life-threatening injuries.

The officer that initially arrived on scene was able to provide medical care to the victim until an ambulance could take over providing care. He was taken from the scene by ambulance and he was transferred to a Memphis hospital.

Detectives were called to the scene of the shooting where they gathered evidence and spoke to witnesses.

At this time there has been no arrest made in this ongoing investigation.
