Shoplifting suspects forget ID at gas station

JONESBORO, Ark. – A couple of shoplifting suspects in Jonesboro left a pretty important item behind after they decided to skip paying over the Labor Day weekend. Now, police know who at least one of the two are.

At about 6:30 AM Saturday morning, September 2, Jonesboro Police Department was dispatched to Walmart at 1911 West Parker Road where a shoplifting call was made. Police spoke to witnesses who said two suspects had arrived in a white Ford Crown Victoria to pump fuel. The two attempted to pay for their fuel with a card that was declined, so they said they would walk to Walmart to get funds. The gas station attended collected the ID card of the second suspect, Ronnie J. C. Richardson, 33, of Jonesboro.

Minutes later, the police report says both came running back to the vehicle from Walmart. Without paying, they jumped in and left. But the attendant still had Richardson’s ID card.

Later in the day, he tried returning on a sports bike to collect it. The gas station attended called authorities but he left before police could get there in time to arrest him.

Upon further investigation, authorities found Richardson had been previously criminally banned from Walmart on Parker Road from earlier this year after a previous shoplifting arrest.

A Bushnell flashlight, a Bluetooth speaker, a backpack cooler, and the fuel were all listed as stolen in the report. The suspect’s identification card was also logged into evidence at JPD.
