PORTIA, Ark. – A gas leak alarmed some residents of Portia Monday afternoon.
NEA Report first heard about it after 3 PM from a resident but by 5 PM, Lawrence County Sheriff Jeff Yates said his deputies had cleared the scene.
Yates said the incident was caused by a backhoe hitting a gas line. It was repaired within a few hours.
No one was believed injured from what the sheriff was told.
