Violent sexual predator will spend 62 years in prison
BLYTHEVILLE, AR – Duan Harris, 29, was convicted today of Second Degree Battery and Attempted Rape by a jury of seven men and five women.
This incident happened in October of 2016.
Harris was convicted as a habitual offender, which enhances the possible range of punishment. Circuit Judge Brent Davis sentenced Harris to the maximum of fifty years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections for the charge of Attempted Rape, followed by twelve years for the Second Degree Battery charge, to be served consecutively. Additionally, Harris was fined a total of $25,000 for the two crimes.
Harris was previously convicted of Rape and Aggravated Assault in Craighead County in June of last year. Those charges stemmed from an encounter in August of 2015, where he beat and raped the victim in her apartment. He was sentenced to ten years in the Department of Corrections by a jury in that case.

I am also thankful that the jury saw fit to keep this violent, sexual predator away from the citizens of Blytheville,” Second Judicial Prosecuting Attorney Scott Ellington said.
