BLACK ROCK, Ark. – Tragedy struck Tuesday evening in Lawrence County.
It was after 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, when 18-year-old Gabrielle Gates of Black Rock was traveling on U.S. 63 in Lawrence County. With the sun setting, Gates was in the northbound lane driving her 2006 Nissan. What should have been a normal drive became a tragic loss for the community in seconds.
At 6:43 p.m., while negotiating a curve, the driver lost control of the Nissan. The Arkansas State Police crash summary states the vehicle overturned and collided with a tree.
The wreck was fatal for the driver.
Road conditions were listed as dry with weather listed as clear during the time of the accident.
