Craighead woman found dead in Jackson County

On Monday, July 31, 2017, at approximately 2:16 PM the Jackson County Sheriff's Office received a call from swimmers on the White River just off the Fitzhugh Levee in Jackson County stating they located an abandoned car and no one around.

Deputies responded to the area and located the vehicle which was registered out of Craighead County. Deputies with Jackson County and Arkansas Game and Fish immediately conducted a search on the water while other deputies searched on foot with no findings.

The registered owner was contacted by the Craighead County Sheriff's Office at which time a missing person report was filed with Craighead County.

On Tuesday, August 1, 2017, deputies with the Jackson County were about to conduct a second search of the area when we was notified by Arkansas Game and Fish Officers in Woodruff County that they located a body of an unidentified white female.

On Thursday, August 3, 2017, the Arkansas State Crime Lab Medical Examiner's Office identified the woman as Renee Grissom, 39, of Jonesboro.

The Jackson County Sheriffs Office will be conducting an investigation into this matter and anyone with information please contact the sheriff's office at (870) 523-5842.
