Man killed in shooting; JPD searching for suspect

JONESBORO, Ark. – Jonesboro police are investigating a shooting incident that claimed the life of Jonesboro man early Saturday morning (4/22/17).

911 Dispatchers received several calls at approximately 12:52 a.m. Saturday morning from residents of the Marshall Street area who reported hearing multiple gunshots.

When officers arrived at a location in the 700 block of Marshall Street, they found that Kerry Lee Kindred Jr., 26, had been struck by gunfire. Officers were told that Kindred had been shot while he was sitting in a vehicle outside a residence at that location.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where he subsequently died.

Witnesses told officers that the person who shot the victim fled from the scene on foot, running between houses in the neighborhood. Officers established a search perimeter and conducted a search but that effort did not yield an arrest.

Detectives have interviewed a number of witnesses and have gathered a number of items of evidence in the ongoing investigation. No suspects are in custody.
