Trailhead for cyclists complete at Craighead

JONESBORO, Ark. – The new Craighead Forest Park trailhead pavilion is complete and ready for use.

This pavilion is outfitted to supply the cycling community and includes picnic tables, bike washing and repair stations, bike racks, a water bottle-filling station, trail maps, a fire pit and more.

It was funded through a Parks and Tourism grant, along with city dollars, and includes LED lighting with a ceiling fan.

“This is a state of the art trailhead for mountain bikers and road cyclists – a place for them to meet before and after they ride,” City Parks Director Wixson Huffstetler said. “It has all the repair tools, including an air pump, that a cyclist would need. We hope to build another one for them on the other side of the park to accommodate all their needs.

Mayor Harold Perrin said the trailhead is part of the larger mission that is making Craighead Forest Park the premier recreation spot in northeast Arkansas.

“We want this park to have something for everyone, and this particular trailhead will serve the strong and growing cycling community in Jonesboro and the region,” Perrin said.
