Man airlifted after car/motorcycle accident

JONESBORO, Ark. – A Jonesboro man was seriously injured a car-motorcycle accident in the 4400 block of East Johnson Avenue Tuesday night.

Witnesses told JPD Traffic Division Officer Francisco Matos that the accident occurred when Chevrolet Malibu automobile driven eastbound on Johnson by Stacye Johnson of Jonesboro slowed to make a right turn into 4405 East Johnson, and a motorcycle traveling eastbound on Johnson behind the car attempted to pass the car on the shoulder to avoid a rear-end collision with the car.

Witnesses said the car made a right turn into the parking lot and the motorcycle, operated by Anthony Allen of Jonesboro, struck the front passenger door of the car. Allen was seriously injured, while the driver of the car and a passenger did not report any injuries from the accident, Matos said. Passersby rendered initial first aid until JPD officers arrived and applied tourniquets to the injured motorcyclist.

EMS arrived and provided treatment until a medical transport helicopter arrived and transported Allen to Regional One Health in Memphis.
