JONESBORO, Ark. – A woman with warrants and a man on parole were arrested during a Saturday search at apartments in Jonesboro.
The Craighead County Sheriff’s Office report says at about 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, deputies made contact with a parolee at 1001 Scott Street, Apt. A for a parole officer.
The deputies arrived and reported a man opened the door and as soon as he saw them, shut it. That man was Jeremy R. Wells, 34, of Jonesboro. Authorities then made contact with the owner, Maria Isabel Estrada/Stevenson, 37, of Jonesboro. After checking, dispatch advised that she was a parolee and also confirmed that she had warrants through the City of Jonesboro.
Estrada/Stevenson quickly gave up Wells, stating he ran out the back of the residence, “because he knew he was in violation of his parole for staying at her residence,” said the report.
While performing a probation search of the residence, deputies found several male clothing items. Deputy Bobby Swan said Estrada/Stevenson explained Wells normally stayed with her – but goes home when they are not getting along. She was arrested and turned over to Jonesboro Police for her warrants.
Deputies then searched the area of Scott Street for Wells but it didn’t take long to find him.
“While searching the area, we noticed that the lights inside 1001 Scott St. Apt. B turned on, then off,” Swan reported.
Literally, at the apartment next door, Wells unsuccessfully tried to hide out from searching authorities. Wells was arrested and transported to the Craighead County Detention Center.
Wells was charged with parole violation.
