Sidewalk committee to hold first meeting

JONESBORO, Ark. – The Sidewalk Committee appointed by Mayor Harold Perrin and approved by the City Council this week will hold its initial meeting at noon Wednesday, March 1, in the first-floor conference room of the Municipal Building, 300 S. Church St.

City Planner Derrel Smith said the committee’s charge is to determine when sidewalks will be required in new developments.

The City also adds and improves sidewalks in existing areas around schools or public facilities on an annual basis.

Press Release – City of Jonesboro

  1. Sidewalks should be on every street and subdivision now. For a city this large to not have them required is dumb. It also should rate a complaint to the Justice Department for a violation of ADA. Persons with disabilities and parents of small children need these sidewalks for quality of life.

  2. Current tax dollars should pay for this. It is insane to ask each homeowner to foot the bill.
