80-year-old man victim of burglary, report says

JONESBORO, Ark. – While the silver years are supposed to be for relaxation and retirement, an elderly man became a victim of theft when he returned home Thursday in Jonesboro.

It was reported just after noon at the 1800-block of Bernard Street, when an 80-year-old man returned home after leaving that morning at 8 a.m. Sometime during the four-hour stretch, someone entered the man’s home through an unlocked side door, according to the incident report filed with Jonesboro Police Department.

Once inside, the thief or thieves stole a 32-inch Hisense flatscreen television and a Wonder Bread toy collectible truck.

The estimated theft was at about $400 in property, with each item being relatively close in value.

JPD is investigating. Anyone with information may contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 935-STOP (870-935-7867). Tips can earn cash but may also be submitted anonymously.
