Dog attack hospitalizes woman in Jonesboro

JONESBORO, Ark. – A stray dog attacked a Jonesboro woman over the weekend, sending her to the hospital.

Jonesboro Police Department Animal Control were told it happened around 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the 1500-block of Mitzi Lane.

There, a woman said she was working in her yard when a black and white stray dog ran into the yard and at first, bit her left hand. Then he jumped and bit her in the face.

“When I turned to shield myself, he git me on the back of my leg,” the victim told police.

Fortunately, her husband was nearby and grabbed a shovel to chase the animal away. The couple said they have never seen the dog before or since the attack.

The woman was taken to St. Bernards Medical Center for treatment. The extent of her injuries was not readily available.
