Mapping recent vehicle break-ins

JONESBORO, Ark. – A number of vehicle break-ins happened Tuesday night and Wednesday morning into Jonesboro and of those reported to police, we mapped them.

Three break-ins were reported Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning and they all occurred near the campus of Arkansas State University. Two of those happened north of East Johnson Avenue while one occurred south of it.

Police were dispatched to the 900-block of Creath Street to a woman who had her vehicle broken into sometime after 8:30 p.m. to find her car broken into. A 9MM pistol was stolen, along with three pairs of Air Jordan shoes, an XBox One and a PS4.

Sometime between 9:30 p.m. and 5 a.m., someone broke into another vehicle at the 1700-block of Belt Street – another apartment complex. A window was busted and the purse, left in the vehicle, was stolen. A fingerprint was recovered from this scene.

Early Wednesday, JPD met with a resident of an apartment at 513 Marshall Street about her SUV being broken into sometime between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. A wallet with some cash and cards was taken.

The break-ins occurred relatively nearby. As always, police advise residents to never leave valuables, especially wallets, purses and guns, in a vehicle overnight.
