Suspect murders man's dog

JONESBORO, Ark. – A man returned home to find his canine friend shot and killed Monday evening in Craighead County.

It happened on County Road 339, according to the incident report filed with Craighead County Sheriff’s Department. The dog owner said he knew the dog was alive shortly after noon. When his wife went to feed the dog around 7 p.m. that evening, she found it.

The dog had been shot and killed.

Even more disturbing is the animal was in a large kennel at the time it was killed. The report indicates someone shot the animal while it was confined and seemingly bothering no one.

The case is being investigated. The suspect could face animal cruelty charges.
