JONESBORO, Ark. – Deer are crossing roadways in Northeast Arkansas, marking a dangerous time for unaware drivers, especially at night.
Around 8:30 p.m. Saturday night in Jonesboro at the intersection of North Church Street and Magnolia, a man was driving when a deer ran out in front of him. The driver struck the doe, breaking its hind legs.
The driver told the officer the deer then went about 40 yards into the brush before falling limp. The officer located it and it tried to run away but fell after about 10 yards of distance.
The officer was able to safely discharge his duty weapon twice, killing the wounded animal.
It was turned over to the driver.
