JONESBORO, Ark. – A suspect made a bad situation worse by trying to flush dope and then admitting to the misdeed, a Jonesboro police report says.

It happened after 6 p.m. Friday, during a probation search of Melody Ann Johnson, 47, of Jonesboro. Authorities headed to room 142 of the Scottish Inn and opened the door, which held itself closed with a chain. Officers could see Johnson and reported she was holding a pipe by the bed.

After opening the door by force, police noted she had flushed something. They asked her what and she said it was a tissue.

“I told her to quit lying and she then advised that it was crack,” Officer Erik Johnson wrote.

Police found various pieces of parahernalia across the room, including a crack pipe, a spoon with white residue and a small leopard-print purse with another pipe inside.

Johnson was charged with three felonies – possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with physical evidence, and a felony probation violation.
