JONESBORO – Renewable energy will be the focus of a conference hosted by the College of Agriculture and Technology Friday, Oct. 14, at Arkansas State University.
The fifth annual Renewable Energy Conference will feature invited speakers from industry, research, outreach and education sectors. In addition, several A-State students will be making research poster presentations.
“Presentations will focus on the emerging areas of renewable energy, energy policy, energy conservation and energy efficiency,” commented Dr. Rajesh Sharma, assistant professor of renewable energy technology and organizer of the conference. “Experts will provide overviews of current efforts and challenges in various areas of renewable energy. This conference also provides an opportunity for researchers in different sectors of renewable energy to present their work.”
Starting at 8:30 a.m., sessions will be in the Spring River Room of the Carl R. Reng Student Union, 101 N. Caraway Road.
Mark Stodola, Mayor of Little Rock, will be luncheon speaker. Others who will make presentations include Morril Harriman, Mitchell Williams Law firm, Little Rock; James Talley and Pete Marte, Hannah Solar, LLC, Atlanta; Wayne Galli, Clean Line Energy Partners, Houston; Tami Hornbeck, community facilitator for Communities Unlimited; and John Pratte, dean of science and mathematics, A-State.
Others are Laura Tucker, U. S. Department of Agriculture; Warren Nevad, director of the Tennessee Renewable Energy & Economic Development Council; Sandeep Pednekar, CEO, Renewable Energies, Inc., Memphis; J.D. Lowery, Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corp., Little Rock; Dustin Chudy, Arkansas State University; Song Feng, University of Arkansas; Christopher A. Craig, Montana State University; Richard Segall, College of Business, A-State; and Dr. Robert L. Straitt, MAREH, Jonesboro.
Conference co-sponsors are Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corporation, Clean Line Energy Partners, and Craighead Electric Cooperative.
The conference is free, but participants need to register by Friday, Oct. 7, to reserve a space. A buffet lunch is included.
