Man reports robbery at gunpoint

JONESBORO, Ark. – A man was returning to his apartment when he had a gun shoved into his side, followed by a robbery, according to a report made with Jonesboro Police Department.

The incident happened Friday and but the report was just released by JPD late Monday. Police were dispatched just before 1 p.m. to the 3700 South Caraway Road over a robbery in progress. Police arrived at the apartment complex and spoke to the victim at the manager’s office.

He said he had left his vehicle and was unlocking his door when an unknown man put a small black gun against his side and forced him into the apartment. Once inside, the suspect demanded his wallet. However, the victim turned around and the suspect loaded the weapon, threatening to shoot him. He handed over his wallet, phone and keys to the suspect but the suspect tossed the keys and phone – wanting only the wallet. Next, the assailant shoved the victim into a bedroom.

The victim reported he ran outside and got into a dark Chevy Impala, leaving the scene. The suspect was described as a slender black male wearing all black, with a long beard, approximately 5’8″ in height.

An employee of the apartments actually tried following the suspect northbound on Caraway Road but the crook noticed he was being followed, ran a red light and got onto the highway.
