Pulliam named interim county judge

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. – Ann Pulliam has been named the interim county judge at a meeting of the Lawrence County Quroum Court tonight.

The move was expected as Pulliam has been handling day-to-day operations in place of late County Judge Dale Freeman. She also transferred control of the Lawrence County 911 office to the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office for the remainder of the year, JP Lloyd Clark told NEA Report.

She will complete the term of Lawrence County Judge, through 2016, before John Thomison takes over. Thomison, who was at the meeting, won a nomination at the Democratic Party meeting Thursday, leading to his certain election, due to no Republican or write-in opponents being eligible.

However, the ballot in November will still read “Dale Freeman.”

The late Lawrence County Judge passed away after battling severe injuries from an automobile accident suffered in August.
