WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. – A call about someone being intoxicated led to the arrest of two on felony methamphetamine charges.
On Friday, Sept. 16, Walnut Ridge Police Department units were dispatched to 125 SE Fourth Street about a man who was intoxicated or under the influence of narcotics. Officer Jennifer Faber was already on the scene as Captain Bubba Blackwood arrived. A man, Brian Rutherford, had admitted to doing meth, according to the report. He was already on probation for drug charges out of Greene County, Blackwood noted.
A female at the location, Nicole Rutherford Taylor, also admitted to doing meth, the report says. She, too, was on probation.
Blackwood obtained signatures to search the residence and discovered a plethora of paraphernalia. Digital scales with a clear, glassy substance on them were found. Inside of the trash, three foil boats with drug residue were found along with plastic corner-cut baggies, a tooter straw and a soda can with two used syringes inside.
After Blackwood interviewed the suspects, he reported Rutherford admitted to the foil and a smoking pipe being his. Taylor, with “several track marks on her right arm that were visible from injecting meth,” Blackwood said, admitted to the syringes being hers.
She also stated she injected meth in her breast area, Blackwood noted.
Both were arrested and taken to Lawrence County Jail on felony possession of meth and paraphernalia charges.
