Beatles at the Ridge draws record crowd

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. – From Louisiana to Maryland, visitors from across the United States flocked to Lawrence County on Friday and Saturday for the annual Beatles at the Ridge festival.

Walnut Ridge Mayor Charles Snapp said multiple reports to him preliminarily show it to be a record event.

“From what some of the entertainers who were here last year told me, and the fire department report, we set a new all-time record,” Snapp said.

The first night, Friday, has traditionally been tougher to draw crowds but not this year, Snapp said. Both the symposium at The Studio, Main Street, along with the live music did well, he said.

And while some rain made for a slow start Saturday, Abbey Road was at capacity by the end of the night.

“By the time the last two bands took the stage, we were reaching the point of maximum capacity,” Snapp said. “By the time Liverpool Legends opened, you couldn’t have put anybody else in here.”

Snapp said the yearly event is already at a maximum capacity for numbers, so next year, planners will be looking at how to spread the events around and to better distribute the attendees.
