WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. – It looks like the Walnut Ridge City Council made the proper decision in July by rejecting the low bids on a city owned property on Main Street.
The building at 209 West Main Street was sold to Ty Callahan from Walnut Ridge according to Walnut Ridge Mayor Charles Snapp on Monday.
His sealed bid was $23,660.00.
Monday morning, Callahan contacted city hall about putting down the required deposit of 10 percent of the bid price. With it, Walnut Ridge City Attorney Nancy Hall can move forward with the deed preparation.
The cost associated with the sale, along with the county and school district property taxes, will be deducted from the sale price. The remaining balance will go into the park fund for Stewart Park, as previously agreed upon by the council, Snapp wrote on the city’s Facebook page.
