Greene County Man Accused of Sex Crimes with Child Victim

PARAGOULD, Ark. – A man is facing felony charges after a child under the age of 10 reported that the man allegedly raped her in Greene County.

On April 27, 2024, the minor female was interviewed by a Forensic Interviewer using the Child First Interview Protocol, according to the probable cause affidavit released by the Greene County sheriff. During the interview, the child disclosed at least two separate sexual acts that would constitute rape by statute and one act of sexual assault in the second degree, according to Sergeant Ashten Jackon’s affidavit. The alleged acts occurred in Greene County.

On the same day, the defendant requested to speak to a Greene County deputy. The affidavit says that he provided self-incriminating statements regarding incidents involving a minor female under age 10 that was left in his care.

Brian Randell Staton, 54, of Paragould, was arrested on two counts of rape, a class Y felony, and one count of second degree sexual assault, a class B felony. However, a second probable cause affidavit revealed even more alleged criminal behavior.

On April 29, the same minor female under the age of 10 was interviewed by a forensic interviewer, according to a second PC affidavit. During the conversation, the minor disclosed at least two more sexual acts that would constitute rape by statute. The minor named Staton as the alleged perpetrator of those sexual acts.

For that, Staton faces two additional charges of rape. In total, Staton now faces four charges of rape and one charge of second degree sexual assault.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

  1. This is disgusting. I remember when things like this might happen once a year if that. But the same goes for homicides so….
