Four Suspects In Custody After Fatal Shooting At West Memphis Gas Station

WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. — Four suspects are in custody after a man was shot and killed early May 31 at a West Memphis gas station, police said.

Officers responded at about 1:04 a.m. to the BP gas station at 906 Ingram Blvd. after receiving a report that a male had been shot, according to Sgt. N. Anderson with the West Memphis Police Department Criminal Investigations-Homicide Division.

When officers arrived, they found an unresponsive male near the entrance of the store suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim died at the scene.

Police identified the victim as Dermarius Smith, 22, of West Memphis.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division responded to begin a preliminary investigation and process the scene. Police said detectives identified four suspects and obtained felony arrest warrants for first-degree murder, terroristic act and aggravated assault.

Aschton Hazley, 22, and Aiyden Stallings, 20, were taken into custody shortly after 2 p.m. the same day, police said.

Jaquinta McKinney Jr., 18, and Terry Sanders III, 21, turned themselves in to detectives shortly after 2 p.m. June 2.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
