Walmart Return Scam Allegation Leads to Felony Arrest in Paragould

PARAGOULD, Ark. — A Paragould defendant was arrested after police said she used false barcodes and an old receipt in an alleged scheme involving dog food and a beauty product at Walmart.

According to a probable cause affidavit from the Paragould Police Department, officers took a theft report April 8, 2026, from Walmart at 2802 W. Kingshighway.

A Walmart employee told police that surveillance video from April 5 showed Mckenzie Harris, 33, of Paragould, entering the store without items. According to the affidavit, Harris then selected three bags of dog food and a Holler beauty toner set before allegedly swapping barcodes on the items and paying lower prices.

Police said Harris then took two unpaid bags of dog food to the service desk and used an old receipt to receive cash for a fraudulent return.

During the investigation, police found Harris had previously been banned from Walmart property on Dec. 27, 2021, according to the affidavit. The affidavit also states she has a prior theft of property conviction from July 19, 2019.

Harris was arrested on allegations of commercial burglary, a Class C felony, and theft of property, a Class D felony. Bail was set at $25,000.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
