West Memphis Man Gets 20 Years in Shooting, Child-Presence Case

Marion, Arkansas. Prosecuting Attorney Sonia Hagood announced that a Crittenden County jury found Shane White guilty of Aggravated Residential Burglary, Terroristic Act, Domestic Battery, Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, and committing offenses in the presence of a child.

The case was prosecuted by Deputy Prosecuting Attorneys Michael Snell, Adam Holman, and Gerald Coleman. Circuit Judge Randy Philhours presided over the case and imposed the sentence.

The Jury recommended a combined sentence totaling 95 years in the Arkansas Department of Correction, with an effective sentence of 20 years to serve, subject to applicable release eligibility.

The individual sentences included:
• Aggravated Residential Burglary: 10 years + 24-month enhancement
• Terroristic Act (Serious Physical Injury): 10 years + 12-month enhancement
• Domestic Battery: 10 years + 24-month enhancement
• Terroristic Act (5 counts): 10 years each + 12-month enhancement
• Aggravated Assault: 4 years + 12-month enhancement

Deputy Prosecutor Michael Snell stated, “Cases involving domestic violence are some of the most difficult to prosecute because of the dynamics involved, but they are also some of the most important. Today’s verdict reflects the seriousness of this conduct and the need to hold offenders accountable.”

On January 21, 2025, officers responded to a shooting at a residence on Dover Road in West Memphis. The victim, Jerrica Mayfield, sustained a gunshot wound to her leg and identified White as the shooter. Witnesses reported multiple gunshots and a child present during the incident. Officers recovered a live 9mm round from White’s pocket, and he was taken into custody.

“Domestic violence doesn’t just impact one victim—it impacts entire families, especially children who are exposed to it,” Hagood said. “We understand how difficult these cases can be, and we will continue to pursue them to protect victims, support families, and ensure those who commit these acts are held accountable. We thank the jury for their time and service.”

The Second Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney’s Office extends its appreciation to the West Memphis Police Department for their work on this investigation.
