Suspect Arrested After Man Shot in Hand During Early Morning Dispute Near Bono

BONO, Ark. — A Bono suspect was arrested after investigators said a man was shot in the hand during an early morning dispute between brothers on March 11.

According to a probable cause affidavit, deputies with the Craighead County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched around 5:20 a.m. to a county road near Bono in reference to threat complaints. While deputies were speaking with individuals at the scene, dispatch notified them that a man had arrived at St. Bernards Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the hand.

Deputies determined the shooting occurred at a neighboring residence. When officers checked the area, they located blood outside the home and a trail leading inside that appeared consistent with someone being shot.

The alleged victim later told authorities he had been shot in the hand by his brother during an argument. Investigators said the two men had been outside arguing shortly before the shooting occurred.

A witness reported hearing gunshots shortly after seeing a light come on at the suspect’s residence. The witness then observed the injured man with blood on his hand and transported him to the hospital for treatment.

Investigators processing the scene reported locating three .380 shell casings near the suspect’s porch and what appeared to be bullet holes in the neighboring residence consistent with the shooting.

Authorities also learned deputies had encountered the suspect earlier that morning around 4:35 a.m. in Brookland, where he reportedly told officers he was angry with his brother and intended to confront him.

Investigators further reported locating a social media post made around that time that was described as threatening toward the alleged victim.

Randall Maclynn Patton, 58, of Bono, was later detained at the scene and arrested on a charge of second-degree domestic battering, a Class C felony.

Patton was given a $75,000 cash or surety bond and has since been released from the Craighead County Detention Center. His next court appearance is scheduled for April 23.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
