Suspect Arrested After Alleged Domestic Assault and Restraint of Victim

JONESBORO, Ark. — A suspect was arrested early March 9 after officers responded to a reported domestic disturbance at a residence on East Johnson, according to a probable cause affidavit from the Jonesboro Police Department.

Police were called around 2 a.m. regarding a disturbance involving Timothy James Parnell, 21, and his girlfriend.

The alleged victim told officers Parnell became upset after seeing messages on her phone. According to the affidavit, she said Parnell threw her phone to prevent her from calling for help and would not allow her to leave the residence.

The alleged victim also reported that during the incident Parnell held her down and choked her by the neck.

Officers reported observing scratch marks on the victim’s body, as well as marks on Parnell that officers said corroborated the victim’s statement.

Parnell was arrested and faces the following charges:

Aggravated assault on a family or household member, a Class D felony
First-degree kidnapping/false imprisonment, a Class C felony
Interference with emergency communication in the first degree, a misdemeanor
Third-degree battery, a misdemeanor

Court records show Parnell’s next court date is April 23. Bail was set at $15,000 cash or surety.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
