Blytheville Suspect Arrested After Alleged Motel Assault, Attempted Escape in Jonesboro

JONESBORO, Ark. — A Blytheville suspect was arrested Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026, after officers responded to a reported domestic disturbance at a Mead Drive motel, according to a Jonesboro Police Department probable cause affidavit.

Officers were dispatched after a caller reported hearing what sounded like an ongoing assault but did not know a room number. Police located the room after hearing a male yelling aggressively inside.

According to the affidavit, officers knocked several times before a male later identified as Rashawn Beare, 25, opened the door and stated everything was OK. Officers advised Beare to step outside and observed damage to the door.

Police entered the room to conduct a bathroom sweep and located a female victim inside. The affidavit states the victim moved away from Beare as officers began placing him in handcuffs. Beare allegedly resisted being handcuffed by pulling his arms away and tensing to prevent officers from securing him. He was ultimately secured and placed in a patrol vehicle.

The victim told officers that Beare is her boyfriend and that he had rented the room for the two of them. She reported that at some point during the night, Beare accused her of being with other people and began arguing.

According to the affidavit, the argument turned physical when Beare allegedly hit the victim and attempted to take her belongings. The victim told police she tried to flee but that Beare caught her and took her back to the motel room by her arm.

The victim reported that Beare kept her inside the room and would not let her leave again until officers arrived. She stated Beare choked her and slammed her on the ground during the altercation. The affidavit states the victim reported feeling as if she was about to pass out.

Officers noted injuries consistent with the victim’s statement, according to the affidavit.

The victim told police that after she called 911, the phone was hung up. She stated that when dispatch called back, Beare had taken her phone, preventing her from answering.

Beare was transported to the Craighead County Detention Center. Upon arrival, he allegedly attempted to flee from an officer in the sally port but was quickly apprehended, preventing escape.

Beare is being charged with:

  • Kidnapping – False Imprisonment 1st Degree (Risk of Serious Injury), a Class C felony

  • Aggravated Assault on a Family or Household Member, a Class D felony

  • Third-Degree Escape, a Class A misdemeanor

  • Domestic Battery, Third Degree, a Class A misdemeanor

  • Resisting Arrest – Refusal to Submit to Arrest, a Class B misdemeanor

  • Interference with Emergency Communication, Second Degree, a Class B misdemeanor

  • Fleeing, a Class C misdemeanor

Beare’s next court date is April 23. Bail was set at $75,000 cash or surety, and a no contact order was issued.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
