Event will feature free tax preparation, legal assistance, and health screenings
On Saturday, February 21st, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Southern Bancorp and other community partners will host a “Super Saturday” event at which anyone who earned $69,000 or less last year may get their taxes filed for free. The event is part of Southern Bancorp’s ongoing Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, through which its IRS-certified staff provide free tax services for its communities every year during tax season, whether one is a customer of theirs or not.
Free tax preparation is available at participating branches throughout the season during business hours, and its “Super Saturdays” provide a flexible, weekend option for those who are unable to make it to a branch during the work week. (For more information visit: banksouthern.com/taxes)
Other free services available at the event include the legal assistance of estate planning and record sealing as well as free health screenings.
