JONESBORO, Ark. — A Wynne woman was arrested following an early-morning crash on Interstate 555 that left two passengers injured, including one who suffered a broken neck, according to police records.
At approximately 3:20 a.m. on Feb. 8, 2026, law enforcement was dispatched to a reported vehicle crash at I-555 and Alexander Road. Upon arrival, officers identified Cappricah Winfrey as the driver of the vehicle.
According to a probable cause affidavit, during the investigation an officer observed marijuana on the rear passenger-side floorboard and a Crown Royal bottle inside the vehicle. The investigating officer also noted a strong odor of alcohol and marijuana coming from the vehicle and from Winfrey.
Police say Winfrey admitted to consuming alcoholic beverages earlier in the evening. A preliminary breath test was administered and reportedly resulted in a .10 blood alcohol concentration. Winfrey was then transported to St. Bernards Regional Medical Center, where she provided a consensual blood sample for further testing.
The crash resulted in injuries to two passengers who were inside Winfrey’s vehicle. One victim sustained compression fractures to the L-1 and L-2 vertebrae. A second victim suffered a bilateral lamina fracture and a superior facet fracture at the C-6 vertebra, described as a broken neck.
Medical staff categorized the injuries to the second victim as a serious physical injury due to the potential for permanent paralysis, according to the affidavit.
Cappricah Winfrey, 25, of Wynne, was arrested on charges of second-degree battery, a Class C felony, driving while intoxicated, and careless and prohibited driving.
Bail was set at $100,000 by Judge David Boling. Conditions of release include a BAC ankle monitor and no use of alcohol or drugs. Winfrey is scheduled to appear in court on March 20.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
