PARAGOULD, Ark. — A Paragould man was arrested Monday after police say he pointed a rifle at a family member during a disturbance at a residence in the 500 block of North 14th Street.
According to a probable cause affidavit, officers responded on Feb. 3, 2026, to reports of a disturbance involving a firearm. When police arrived, the alleged victim and a second occupant exited the home and spoke with officers while a perimeter was established around the residence. The suspect, identified as Kevin M. Buford Jr., remained inside at that time.
The alleged victim told police that Buford, their son, appeared to be under the influence of methamphetamine and pointed a rifle directly at their face. A second individual inside the home reported seeing Buford with a firearm and said they heard the alleged victim tell him, “If you gonna shoot me, then shoot me!”
Police say Buford later exited the residence with a firearm on his person and was taken into custody without incident. The rifle described by the alleged victim was located inside the home during the investigation.
Kevin M. Buford Jr., 34, of Paragould, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault on a family or household member, a Class D felony. Bail was set at $75,000.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
