Man Arrested After Alleged Shoplifting, Attempted Escape on Highland Drive

JONESBORO — A Jonesboro man was arrested after police say a shoplifting investigation on Highland Drive led to the discovery of stolen merchandise and an attempted escape from custody, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Officers were dispatched on Dec. 24 to a reported shoplifting incident on Highland Drive. Dispatch advised the suspect was wearing a black shirt and black hat and carrying a black backpack. Officers located a suspect matching that description exiting the store and detained him without incident, police said.

The suspect was later identified as William Aaron-Bradley Wilson, 30. According to the affidavit, officers escorted Wilson back inside the store, where a search of his backpack revealed 11 stolen items valued at $474.64.

Police said Wilson had previously been criminally banned from store properties due to another theft.

After statements were gathered, Wilson was placed into custody and escorted to a patrol unit. While being placed into the vehicle, officers reported Wilson attempted to flee but was quickly apprehended. He was then secured in the rear of the patrol unit and transported to the Craighead County Detention Center.

Wilson was arrested and charged with commercial burglary, a Class C felony; theft of property valued at $1,000 or less, second offense, a Class D felony; and third-degree escape from custody, a misdemeanor. Jail records show a hold placed from an outside county, as well.

Bond was set at $50,000 cash or surety. His next court date is scheduled for Feb. 27, 2026.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
