JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro suspect was arrested following an investigation into alleged identity fraud during a traffic stop, according to a police affidavit.
On Dec. 12, 2025, a report was filed with the Jonesboro Police Department after Tamela Lashay Fowler was accused of using another person’s identity during a traffic stop that resulted in a citation. The alleged victim told officers this was not the first time Fowler had used her identity while dealing with law enforcement.
According to the affidavit, the victim said she believes Fowler used her identifying information because Fowler had an outstanding warrant and a suspended driver’s license at the time.
Officers determined Fowler was issued a traffic citation on Nov. 13, 2025, at the intersection of Johnson and Rogers streets after allegedly using her mother’s credentials. Body camera footage from the traffic stop reportedly showed Fowler as the driver who provided the victim’s information to the officer.
Police attempted to make contact with Fowler but were unsuccessful. On Dec. 18, 2025, a bench warrant was issued. After several attempts at her residence, officers eventually made contact, and Fowler was arrested. She was transported to the Craighead County Detention Center.
Fowler, 28, was arrested on a charge of nonfinancial identity fraud, a Class C felony.
Her next court date is scheduled for Jan. 23. Bond was set by District Judge Tommy Fowler at $50,000 cash or surety.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
