JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro woman is accused of throwing a bowl of chili at a man during an argument and later pointing a shotgun at him, according to a probable-cause affidavit.
Officers were dispatched around 9 p.m. Nov. 29 to the 1300 block of West Washington in reference to a domestic disturbance. When officers arrived, they found the alleged victim with chili on his shirt.
The alleged victim told police that he and Awanna Lee Smith, 58, of Jonesboro, had gotten into an argument. During the dispute, Smith allegedly threw a bowl of chili at him. Police said the two continued to argue, and Smith followed the victim through the home, striking him multiple times.
According to the affidavit, the victim said Smith then retrieved a shotgun, pointed it at him, and told him to leave the residence. Officers also interviewed a witness who said they had video footage. Police reviewed the footage, which they reported showed Smith pointing the shotgun at the alleged victim.
