JONESBORO, Ark. — The City of Jonesboro confirmed Tuesday that Parks Director Danny Kapales has been placed on administrative leave after the U.S. Department of Justice opened an investigation involving him.
According to a city news release, Jonesboro officials were notified of the federal investigation this morning. Mayor Harold Copenhaver said the city is fully cooperating and will continue to do so throughout the process.
Kapalas was immediately placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. Assistant Parks Director Jim Stearns has been appointed acting director until further notice.
The city said no additional information will be released, citing the ongoing federal investigation.
Any inquiries are directed to the Public Information Officer for the FBI’s Little Rock field office.

I’m fairly sure the feds are investigating the soon-to-be former Parks and Recreation Director for financial crimes. So, the fact that he’s still getting paid while the investigation is ongoing is just salt being rubbed into a wound.
