JONESBORO — A male suspect is accused of assaulting a woman during a violent domestic incident that left her with multiple visible injuries and led to his arrest.
According to the probable-cause affidavit, officers were dispatched on Nov. 21 to a residence in the 300 block of Garden Manor. When officers arrived, they saw through a window that a couple inside appeared to be in an active physical altercation. A woman answered the door, and officers asked that everyone involved come forward. The alleged victim then approached officers.
Police reported that she had a swollen face, swollen lips, and multiple scratches to her face and arms. The affidavit states the victim was visibly upset and crying. She told officers that Clarence Mutcherson-Brown would not allow her to leave the residence.
Officers searched the apartment for Mutcherson-Brown and found him hiding in a bedroom closet under a pile of clothing.
The alleged victim told officers she had tried multiple times to leave but said Mutcherson-Brown grabbed her, threw her down, and struck her repeatedly with a closed fist. She also reported that he choked her to the point she could not breathe and nearly lost consciousness.
Based on her statements, the observed injuries, and officers’ findings, police wrote that there was probable cause to arrest him.
Clarence Alexander Brown, 40, is charged with first-degree kidnapping (false imprisonment), a Class C felony, and aggravated assault on a family or household member, a Class D felony.
District Judge Tommy Fowler set bond at $50,000 cash or surety. Conditions include a no-contact order and a GPS ankle monitor. The judge noted it was Brown’s third arrest of 2025, that he had previously missed court, and that he had prior domestic-related charges.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
