JONESBORO — A Jonesboro woman is facing multiple charges after police said she was found behind the wheel while intoxicated, with an open bottle of vodka in her car.
According to a probable cause affidavit, officers with the Jonesboro Police Department observed a vehicle stopped in the roadway with its emergency flashers on near the intersection of Ferrell and West Matthews on Nov. 8. As officers approached, the vehicle began to move forward before stopping again.
Police said the driver, Crystal A. Jones, 43, appeared confused, slurred her speech, and was difficult to understand. Officers reported that Jones forgot what she was asked for and began playing with knobs in her vehicle.
An open bottle of vodka was found on the back passenger floorboard, officers said. Jones allegedly told police she had been leaving a party and that the vodka was the reason for her condition. Officers also noted a large wet spot on the front of her pants.
Jones was asked to perform field sobriety tests but was unable to complete them. Officers placed her under arrest, but she reportedly refused to walk and had to be carried to a patrol unit. At the Craighead County Detention Center, she allegedly refused a breath test.
Court documents show Jones has prior DWI convictions in 2017, 2019, and 2025 in Shelby County, Tennessee, making this her fourth within 10 years. Her driver’s license is currently suspended for DWI.
Jones faces charges of felony driving while intoxicated (fourth offense), driving on a suspended license, resisting arrest, possession of an open container, and refusal to submit.
District Judge Tommy Fowler called her a “danger to the public” during Monday’s hearing in Craighead County District Court. He set bail at $10,000 cash only and ordered that Jones wear a SCRAM alcohol monitoring device if released. Her next court date is set for Dec. 16.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
