Suspect Faces Attempted Murder Charge After Alleged Armed Break-In Into Ex’s Home in Jonesboro

JONESBORO, Ark. — A suspect is facing serious charges, including criminal attempt to commit first-degree murder, after allegedly breaking into an ex’s home in Jonesboro, putting a gun under her chin, and even firing the gun several times.

Jeremy Akeem Delvridge, 33, of Jonesboro, is facing a long list of charges, including:

  • aggravated residential burglary, a Class Y felony
  • criminal attempt to commit first-degree murder, a Class A felony
  • first-degree terroristic threatening, a Class D felony
  • aggravated assault on a family or household member, a Class D felony
  • possession of a firearm by certain persons, a Class D felony
  • tampering with physical evidence, a Class D felony
  • theft by receiving a firearm, a Class D felony
  • Fleeing, endangering the welfare of a minor, criminal mischief, and discharging a firearm within the city limits, all misdemeanors.

Bail was set at $350,000 cash or surety by Judge Tommy Fowler during Wednesday’s 8.1 hearings in Craighead County. A no-contact order and GPS ankle monitor requirement were also included in the judge’s orders.

According to the probable cause affidavit, on November 1, officers were dispatched to Phillip Evans Way about a domestic disturbance. Police arrived to find a woman running toward them, saying, “he’s in there with my son.”

Inside the residence, police observed Jeremy Delvridge standing in the hallway holding a firearm and speaking with a juvenile male. Delvridge ignored commands to drop the firearm, walked into a room, and moved out of the officers’ line of sight. Moments later, a window opened, and officers heard him exit the residence, now unarmed. He was taken into custody without further incident.

The victim said she was in a previous relationship with Delvridge, but he had no reason to be at her home now. He knocked on the door, and when she opened it, she said he forced his way inside, grabbed her, and pulled her toward a back bedroom. Once inside, he began accusing her of being involved with other men and began choking her. She stated she was unable to breathe and pushed her arms up between his to break free, but he struck her in the head. At one point, she lost consciousness.

When she regained consciousness, the victim said Delvridge was on top of her again. This woke one of the children up. The suspect made the victim tell the child they were just playing. Delvridge then told her he was going to “knock her out” and dragged her into the kitchen. He struck her in the face, causing her to urinate.

Delvridge then reportedly fired two gunshots before forcing the victim into the bathroom. He reportedly placed the gun under her chin and fired it just as she turned her head, causing the round to miss.

While this was happening, the victim’s children were knocking on the door. The victim stated she forced herself to stop crying to prevent harm to the children.

The victim was able to convince Delvridge to let her go outside to smoke. He hesitated but allowed her to leave. She went outside, went to her child’s bedroom window, and told the child to call the police. Officers arrived moments later.

The victim had multiple scratches and redness around her neck consistent with the incident. She also said she lost consciousness multiple times during the incident.

Authorities observed two bullet holes in the bathroom, one in the wall and one in the ceiling.

Delvridge faces up to life in prison on the Class Y felony charge, alone.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
