New Video Released Showing Shooting Saturday at VFW in Jonesboro

JONESBORO, Ark. — Authorities are continuing to investigate a shooting that happened early Saturday at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1991 in Jonesboro.

No arrests have been reported in the case as of Thursday. However, JPD’s Sally Smith said police need witnesses who were present to come forward, so that might change.

Anyone with information on this shooting is encouraged to call the Jonesboro Police Department at 870-935-5657 or CrimeStoppers at 935-STOP.

Multiple shots were fired before the doors opened to a planned party Saturday night, October 25, at the VFW, 300 Airport Road in Jonesboro, according to JPD’s PIO Sally Smith. The building is commonly used as an event venue. JPD responded to a shots-fired call at 10:24 PM.

There was one known victim who had been transported to the hospital. Their condition is unknown. JPD stated that property damage was also caused in the incident.

The police report released on Monday stated that Detective Joe Robinson arrived on the scene and made his way through the parking lot to the building. Multiple people were outside, but none offered any information about the shooting, he said.

Officers found the victim, Dayvion Terell Sconiers, 21, of Marion, suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper middle chest area and to the left hip/buttock area. Officers rendered aid before he was transported to a hospital.

A witness and friend to the victim said they were standing in the parking lot when the shooting occurred. He told the detective they were “just standing” when someone started shooting. They ran south to where the victim was located.

Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact the Jonesboro Police Department at 870-935-5657 or CrimeStoppers at 935-STOP, authorities said.
