JONESBORO, Ark. — A woman is facing charges after an alleged stabbing incident at the Links Apartments in Jonesboro.
Officers responded to 1108 Links Circle on Sept. 8 for a reported stabbing, according to the police report. The suspect allegedly cut the victim with a knife after charging at her during the altercation. Officers arrived to find the victim in her apartment. They also found the suspect, Alalia Cincere Farmer.
Farmer said she had been in a heated argument with her boyfriend that turned physical. She grabbed two knives from the kitchen and slid them into her pants. She continued arguing with her boyfriend until she went outside and slashed all four tires.
The affidavit says the boyfriend called his cousin, the victim, to pick him up. When the victim arrived, she got out of the vehicle to speak with her cousin, but Farmer approached her and began to fight, grabbing her hair and pulling out one of the knives. She allegedly made a large slicing motion over her head down onto the victim’s arm. The wound was a straight, fairly deep cut, police said.
Video of the incident was also recorded by the tow truck driver. Police reviewed it and reported seeing Farmer using her left hand to hold the victim’s hair and force her head down.
“The knife is then seen being swung from behind Farmer’s back, over her head, and into the victim,” the detective wrote.
Police recovered several knives, including a steak knife with a white handle and blood on the blade.
Alalia Cincere Farmer, 22, of Jonesboro, faces charges of second-degree battery with the purpose of causing injury with a deadly weapon other than a firearm, a Class D felony. Jail records showed a misdemeanor criminal mischief charge.
On Wednesday, Sept. 10, the defendant appeared in court for her bail hearing. The prosecutor noted no criminal history. Given the depth of the cut and the knife being around the head, the state requested $35,000 bond. That wasn’t enough for Circuit Judge Barbara Halsey, who set bail at $75,000, noting that this could have been an “execution.” A no-contact order was also put into place.
Her next court date is October 30.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
