Jonesboro Woman Accused of Stabbing, Faces Attempted Murder Charge

JONESBORO, Ark. — A woman is facing as much as 30 years in prison on a Class A felony charge for an alleged stabbing on Monday in Jonesboro.

According to the probable cause affidavit, on July 28, Jonesboro officers responded to the 500 block of Melton Circle over a stabbing that had been reported. Police found three victims outside in the driveway, with one kneeling and holding a towel against the side of their face. A steady flow of blood was falling on the pavement under the kneeling victim. The stabbing victim was transported to the hospital.

The suspect was identified as Shelby Scriber. She was taken into custody and transported to the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) for an interview.

Scriber was read her Miranda rights. The affidavit says she agreed to speak without a lawyer present and admitted to trying to kill the victim by attacking the victim with a knife after calling the victim over to the residence.

Scriber was arrested and taken to Craighead County Detention Center. She faces a charge of criminal attempt to commit first-degree murder, a Class A felony punishable by 6 to 30 years in prison.

Attorney Bill Stanley represented Scriber in court on Wednesday at her bond hearing. There were also questions Judge Tommy Fowler had about her mental health status, despite a previous evaluation. Bail was set at $250,000 cash or surety with no contact orders for the victims, and a second mental evaluation was ordered.

Her next court appearance is scheduled for 8:30 AM on Sept. 30, 2025.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
